 Sports Illustrated has posted a behind the scene video on how SI photographer Heinz Kluetmeier photographed Michael Phelps who was named SI's 2008 Sportsman of the Year. Phelps was photographed underwater in a tux!
Heinz, using a Nikon D3, is known for the emotional impact of his sport photos. At his website he said "I think that the technical approach is often irrelevant to the picture in terms of what you do as a photographer. I think the most important thing is to have a vision, to have an emotional feeling, to care about what you're photographing. You have to have something that's already there in your heart, in your eye".
He sure has captured Phelps with that extraordinary 'something'.
